Boltzmann collision operator for polyatomic gases in agreement with experimental data and DSMC method

Abstract This paper is concerned with the Boltzmann equation based on a continuous internal energy variable to model polyatomic gases constant specific heats. We propose family of models for collision kernel and evaluate nonlinear operator get explicit expressions transport coefficients like shear bulk viscosities, thermal conductivity, depending parameters. shown contain as special case used in direct simulation Monte Carlo method hard sphere cross section. Then, we show that it possible choose parameters such way recover various physical phenomena, particular, experimental data viscosity, Prandtl number ratio viscosities at same time.
